Esperanza Learning Center
Esperanza Learning Center (ELC) is a new program within the therapeutic environment, that aims to provide support for students with acquiring essential daily living, vocational, and leisure skills with the end goal of achieving the highest level of independence for that individual student.
ELC, which provides services for students aged 14 ½ – 21 years old, gives students a variety of vocational experiences both inside the school as well as in work environments within the community.
About Applied Behavior Analysis
Similarly to Esperanza School, ELC utilizes principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) in order to simultaneously reduce maladaptive behaviors while increasing socially appropriate alternatives. ELC takes these principles one step further, by also utilizing ABA principles in the community and work environment to the greatest extent possible.
By decreasing maladaptive behaviors and connecting students to vocational experiences in the community, ELC intends to increase the student’s likelihood of keeping and obtaining employment after high school graduation.
Support You Can Trust
Additionally, our related services team (Social Work, Occupational Therapy, and Speech Therapy) provides direct skill instruction integrated inside and outside of the classroom, as well as in the community. Our high staff-to-student ratio allows students to develop the skills to be independent in school and homes, as well as at work and within their communities.
Beyond High School
Esperanza Learning Center understands that the needs of our students and families do not end at high school graduation. Our administrative team, clinical team, and classroom staff are dedicated to helping our families navigate the complex process of transitioning from the educational system to the world of adult services.
