people with disabilities and their families
At Esperanza Community Services, our mission is to empower people with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential and lead fulfilling, independent lives. This includes helping people with disabilities and their families navigate the developmental disability system.
Prevalence of Disabilities
In the state of Illinois, approximately 2% of the population has a developmental disability.
Lack of Connection
As of June 2019, less than half of adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities were known to state agencies.
Absent Resources
In the U.S., for every person receiving publicly funded support for an intellectual or developmental disability, there are four more individuals with disabilities who do not have access to such resources.
