We, again, want to thank everyone for their continued support throughout this new and difficult phase of education. We have faced many challenges through the past several months, but are so proud of our students, families, and staff for working through the limitations and constraints, to help our students continue to engage in education.
Throughout the pandemic, every decision has thoughtfully and purposely considered the needs, safety, and health of all students and staff. Keeping that in mind, our school and Esperanza leadership, with the support of our board of directors, have made the very difficult decision to extend our in-person start date until after our Winter Break and the new year.
This decision was due to many factors, including rising positivity rates in Illinois as well as surrounding states, the onset of flu season, coupled with an inconsistent schedule due to Thanksgiving and Winter Breaks. We will continue to evaluate and monitor the conditions based on national, state, and local health recommendations, and update you with any new developments that will impact our staff and students and our return to in-person learning.
We will be preparing for a return on a limited basis after Winter Break and will have additional information as we near December.
We continue to understand this decision will be a relief for many staff and families but will present challenges for others due to a variety of reasons. Our team is available to problem-solve with any staff members that have outstanding issues related to remote learning or are impacted negatively by our delayed in-person instruction. If you need any support, please feel free to reach the Principal via email at ahellmer@esperanzaschool.org or via phone at 312-243-6097 ext. 153.
Thank you for your patience and continued understanding,
