Nicolette St. Angel was first introduced to Esperanza Community Services in the early 2000s by her client and friend, Chef Jackie Shen, who led the organization’s fundraising dinners for several years. These humble, heartfelt events were held in the ECS auditorium, with Esperanza students assisting in the kitchen. What began as casual volunteer support soon evolved into deeper involvement: Nikki joined the Board, chaired the marketing committee, and eventually served as Board Chair.
Nikki termed off the Esperanza Board shortly before moving to California in 2011 but has remained a passionate supporter. Drawn to our mission from the moment she first walked into our school, and recognizing the organization’s urgent need for support, she quickly got involved. She has long admired the integrity and resourcefulness of the Esperanza team and its “no frills, just impact” approach to giving our clients the best experience possible. Inspired by Esperanza’s art and education programs, she studied to become a volunteer art docent at the San Jose Museum of Art, eventually serving on the Docent Board and as Gala Chair. She’s incredibly excited to attend our 2025 Gala to see how Esperanza has evolved, meet the current staff and families, and introduce her “Chicago” friends to ECS!
Beyond Esperanza, Nikki is an active volunteer. Currently splitting her time between San Jose and Las Vegas, she supports Friends of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area and JW House in Santa Clara, CA, where her son, Nico (17), co-chairs the Student Board. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling, wine (she’s a sommelier!), and giving back to the community.
Thank you, Nicolette, for your unwavering support of Esperanza over the years. We are honored to have you as our 2025 Honorary Patron!
