We are pleased to announce that Esperanza has received an award from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago in the amount of $128,000.  The aard was made through the Federal Home Loan Bank’s Affordable Housing Program, and will help Esperanza create 16 new units in its Community Integrated Living Arrangement (CILA) program. Esperanza’s CILAs are supported living homes where adults with developmental disabilities live as independently as possible while receiving 24-hour care and support. Decisions were made following a competitive application process.

“This is a huge step forward for our CILA program,” said David Stupay, Esperanza executive director. “We’ll be able to provide support and care to more residents than ever before in our history. We’re excited to be able to start moving people off of the waiting lists and closer to independence.”

In total, the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago awarded more than $19 million to help finance 58 affordable housing projects located primarily in Illinois and Wisconsin. “These rental and ownership projects will provide more than 2,700 affordable housing units to individuals and families who need a home that they can afford,” says Sam Nicita, Community Investment Officer at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago. The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago allocates 10% of its earnings to affordable housing programs.
