The Esperanza art program offers a creative and inclusive space where participants can express themselves, explore artistic endeavors, and develop skills. Our program not only offers a creative outlet but also contributes significantly to the overall well-being of our clients, fostering a sense of empowerment, accomplishment, and joy through artistic expression. We offer art to both our adult clients and students.
Meet our Artists
Anthony
Bio
Anthony exudes confidence when working in the Art Studio. He paints quickly and confidently filling his canvas with vibrant brush strokes. Anthony often requests a large paint brush and his paint palette that has remnants of each color of the rainbow. Anthony is very organized when setting up his work space allowing him to create his ideal rainbow with ease.
Anthony loves to create both large and small scale paintings of rainbows and wants to spread positivity through his art.
Clarence
Bio
Clarence loves expressing his interest and experiences through creating artwork. Using photographs, colored pencils, stencils, and paint, Clarence visually depicts his passion for
Chicago, The Cubs, and pop culture. Clarence enjoys sharing stories of his life and uses art to visualize these experiences. While in the studio, Clarence likes to put on music and zone into his creative process.
Doug
Bio
Douglas is an abstract and expressive artist that composes large scale, intricate paintings through large brush strokes and a focus on color and value. Douglas is intentional about both his color palette and color placement. He uses a variety of hues and layers of paint to give dimension to his abstract paintings. His relaxing demeanor while painting is transferred into the peaceful aesthetic in his paintings.
Edwin
Bio
Edwin visually depicts his experiences and interests through landscape and portrait paintings. Edwin is interested in his personal and cultural identity. Many of his artworks are inspired by his memories which he portrays through self portraiture and drawings of places he has visited. References to Puerto Rico reoccur through Edwin’s work as he is both proud and interested in his heritage.
Jonathan
Bio
Jonathan has an illustrative approach to artwork often creating both animal and human like creatures and cartoons. His creative practice often involves scanning magazines and books to draw inspiration for his designs. Jonathan uses vibrant colored pencils and markers to create
work in his energetic and upbeat style. Jonathan often has a big smile when creating or being asked about his artwork.
Mark
Bio
Mark focuses on geometric shapes and color placement to create intricately patterned artwork. Mark works diligently to fill in each shape with its intended color and takes his time to complete each piece. Mark finds inspiration from designs he witnesses in his life, such
as stained glass windows, soccer fields, and color schemes, and transfers the initial reference into his unique style. Mark often zones into his art pieces while creating but always takes the time to look at the art work of his peers and admire the work of others.
Marlon
Bio
Marlon diligently works with pattern and shape to create dynamic and colorful paintings. Marlon practices a creative process that involves sketching his design in pencil followed by intense concentration and intentionality when painting. Marlon spends extensive time on his paintings considering every color and square. Marlon is submerged into his creative world while painting as he directs his complete focus into his work.
Tabitha
Bio
Tabitha puts her sweet, loving personality into everything she makes and can often be found making cards or drawings to give away as gifts to the people she loves. She likes to draw flowers, hearts and people and says she likes art “because I’m good at it!”. Participating in the studio and in exhibitions makes her happy and keeps her inspired. Tabitha’s preferred mediums are paint and color pencils, but she’ll work with just about anything.
Veronica
Bio
Veronica draws inspiration from people’s faces and often creates stylistic
interpretations of faces surrounded by vibrant atmospheres. Whether using vibrant colors and large brush strokes or dense line work, her expressionistic portraits create a definite mood. She
works with confidence in the studio and creates the vision from her head directly onto her canvas.
