    Professional Development and Training

It’s important for Esperanza staff to continue developing professionally. Trainings and workshops for staff will help students learn and succeed!

    • $50 will go a long way toward helping us bring in educational speakers and presenters
    • $200 will provide a professional development opportunity for one of our staff to ensure that we’re always using current best practices.
    • $750 will provide PD for a staff member for a full year.

    Classroom Supplies

We use a variety of tools to help students learn.  From folders and binders that help keep students and staff organized to technology that ensures that students are learning vital skills, your support will make sure that every day is filled with learning. Similar and gently used items are appreciated as well!

Velcro and Lamination for Adapted Books and Other Visual Tools

Adapted books have been modified to make them more accessible for students.   Visual schedules help students understand when activities will occur, increasing independence and reducing anxiety.  Both of these vital tools, and so many others, consist of two indispensable materials: lamination and Velcro (aka hook and loop fastener).

In an average year, Esperanza School uses more than 1,400 feet of Velcro and 20,000 feet of lamination! Lamination helps us protect our materials and resources so they last longer. Lots of things get laminated, including activity sheets, schedules, reward/incentive boards, and communication materials.

When it comes to adapted books, lamination and Velcro go together like peanut butter and jelly. Adaptations might be visual (asking students to match a picture to a corresponding image in the book) or language based (supporting students to summarize a main idea). Staff frequently use lamination and Velcro to create custom books, schedules and other tools to help all students build the skills they need!

    • Your donation of $10 provides materials needed to create visual schedules for students
    • Your donation of $15 will help teachers create adapted books to ensure that every student can engage with reading.

OR you can send Esperanza the materials for making these items directly!

Lamination – 25” wide by 200’, one inch core (please select product 1706 from the dropdown menu).

    Sponsor a Classroom

You can ensure that all students in an Esperanza classroom have the customized supports, sensory  tools, adapted furniture and other tools they need to achieve their goals.
